The Delivery Route Optimizer is a sophisticated software solution designed to empower delivery drivers in streamlining their routes for optimal efficiency, ensuring a seamless, time-effective, and direct path to their destinations. This intelligent app eliminates the frustration of navigating aimlessly by continually refining routes in real-time as drivers progress, intuitively guiding them to the next destination in proximity to their current stop.

Problem
Drivers often find themselves revisiting locations they have previously delivered to, a situation that could be mitigated by strategically grouping package drop-offs within the same vicinity. This approach not only optimizes delivery routes but also prevents unnecessary returns to previously covered areas. By avoiding such backtracking, we alleviate frustration, conserve valuable time, and minimize fuel consumption.
Solution
The remedy lay in the development of a route optimization software that continuously refines navigation instructions for the driver. This ensures that the driver is informed about the next nearby delivery location before proceeding to more distant destinations.

Research Summary
The two types of research that I did were, competitive audit and unmoderated usability study.
The assumption I had when starting this project was just to simply create a platform to connect young professionals with trainers online, but I wasn’t sure what would be a satisfactory experience for the users. Upon gathering the insights from the research participants, I realized that usability study is the key to ensuring that I create something that will solve the user problem.
User Pain Points
Out of range locations
Missing close by delivery stops only to return later
Time wasting
Going in circles to delivery instead of the stops going in sequence
Delivery Sign-off Paperwork
Dealing with lots of paperwork when customers sign-off the deliveries
Managing Drivers
Not having centralized software to track and manage drivers
Starting the design
Digital Wireframes
Low-Fidelity Prototype
Usability Studies Iterations
The goal is to enhance the experience of the user by ensuring that they have enough flexibility to move around and find the critical information they need to make a decision.
Usability Study: Findings
I conducted an unmoderated usability study with 5 participants, 3 guys, 2 ladies between the ages of 19 – 35. Three of them are young professionals and two are varsity students. During the study I was able to identify gaps to be filled in my design which are essential to delivering a satisfactory experience and help the users reach their goals.
Round 1
Users needs a recurring option when subscribing to the sessions.
Users needs a confirmation page after they put in their credit card details.
Users preferred the CTA to say subscribe rather than buy.
Round 2
Users were satisfied with the simplicity of the app.
Users appreciated the reviews on each trainer as they help them decide.
The tips and tracking features will help users stay motivated and consistent on their goals.

Accessibility
Accessibility Considerations
Color
We have taken into consideration users who might be color blind. We chose colours that work for them as well.
Icon and titles
We included titles next to the icons to ensure common understanding across different cultural backgrounds.
Equity
Some of the trainers on our app will be those living with disabilities to cater for users with disabilities

Impact:
“This is absolutely a stunning work. I like how our designs are clean, simplified and not overwhelming. I can see users finding it easy to navigate around and meeting their needs easily.”
– Student Review
What I learned:
I have learned that design alone without engaging users through a usability study might not solve the problem of the users. Usability study is a big part of UX design because it ensures that we always put the user first in all the decisions involving the design.
